Ballot counting is time consuming and can be problematic if the ballots are counted wrong. Usually it takes multiple people a couple of hours to count and re-count hundreds of ballots. If someone doesn’t like the outcome, they blame it on human error and demand a recount. The Utah County GOP was in need of a much more efficient and less controversial way of counting the ballots.
We brought both the paper ballots as well as a Scantron. It only took a two man team to put all the ballots through the machine with results ready in just over 30 minutes. Since we are an independent third party, we helped eliminate the controversy.
